Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using HamChops ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

HamChops is an online learning platform for DevOps, SRE, and Platform Engineering. We provide:

  • Educational content in the form of lessons, quizzes, and interactive simulations
  • A spaced repetition learning system
  • Progress tracking and gamification features
  • Free and paid (Pro) access tiers

3. User Accounts

To use the Service, you must:

  • Create an account using Google or GitHub OAuth
  • Provide accurate and complete information
  • Keep your account credentials secure
  • Be at least 13 years of age

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. Payments, Billing, and Refunds

HamChops Pro is available as an annual subscription or a one-time lifetime access purchase.

Annual Subscription

  • Billed annually and automatically renews at the end of each billing period unless cancelled beforehand
  • You may cancel at any time from your account settings or by contacting us at [email protected]
  • Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period — you retain Pro access until then
  • We will send a reminder email before each renewal

Lifetime Access

  • A one-time purchase granting access for the operational lifetime of the Service
  • No recurring charges

Lifetime access is defined as the period during which the Service is actively operated. We reserve the right to discontinue the Service. In that event, we will provide at least 60 days' notice where reasonably practicable. No refund is owed solely due to discontinuation after the refund window has passed.

Refund Policy

  • Refunds may be requested within 14 days of purchase, provided you have completed fewer than 10 lessons
  • To request a refund, email [email protected] with your account email and purchase date
  • Approved refunds are processed via Stripe and may take 5–10 business days to appear
  • Refunds are not available after the 14-day window or if the usage threshold has been exceeded

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Prices are displayed in USD.

5. Intellectual Property

All content on HamChops, including lessons, quizzes, simulations, images, and code examples, is owned by HamChops or its licensors and protected by applicable copyright law.

  • You may not copy, distribute, or republish our content without written permission
  • You may not use automated systems (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the Service
  • Personal use for learning purposes is permitted

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or data
  • Interfere with other users' access to the Service
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Use automated tools to artificially inflate progress or XP

7. AI-Generated Content

Portions of the educational content on HamChops — including lessons, quizzes, simulations, and diagrams — are generated or assisted by artificial intelligence. While we review and curate this content, AI-generated material may contain inaccuracies, outdated information, or errors inherent to AI systems.

  • Content should be used as a learning aid, not as a sole authoritative reference
  • We encourage you to verify critical information against official documentation and primary sources
  • You can report inaccuracies using the "Report an issue" feature on any lesson

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee:

  • Uninterrupted or error-free access to the Service
  • Accuracy or completeness of any content, including AI-generated material
  • That use of the Service will result in job placement or career advancement

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, HamChops shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you violate these Terms. In that case, your Pro access is revoked without refund.

You may delete your account at any time by emailing [email protected]. If you have an active annual subscription, cancel it before requesting deletion to avoid further charges — account deletion does not automatically cancel a Stripe subscription.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Alberta.
